#fulldisclosurefriday – No Sick Day for Mommy

That moment where you are feeling terrible, you’ve come down with a sinus infection, and all you want to do is lay in bed all day but then you remember that you’re a mom and that is not even close to being an option!

This week was a challenging one for me. The wake up calls seemed earlier, my patience seemed to be thinner, the requests for snacks seemed to be more frequent, the naps seemed shorter, and the days seemed longer. By Wednesday, I had hit my limit; I was in survival mode. My husband called to tell me he had to work late and I finally threw in the towel (why do they always have to work late on the days that we are trying to wave the white flag?!).

I was going through kleenexes like free candy on Halloween and my head felt like it was going to explode but, moms must push through. Up until that point, my girls and I had a busy day filled with grocery shopping (where I forgot a crap ton of items), temporary tattoo applications (lol- Caira was really excited about this and wanted to be my twin; #stamped…. Sigh- Oh the choices we make when we are 18 are coming back to haunt me!), attempting to engage in pretend play (ugh, can mommy play My Little Pony’s laying down?), and work (I had a ton of papers to grade and meetings to attend).

After exhausting a lot of the Netflix options, I finally resorted to handheld devices for screen time because when you’re in survival mode- no rules apply. At one point, I had one kid on the iPad and the other kid on the phone and I didn’t even care! We were just buying our time until daddy got home so I could run to immediate care to get antibiotics.

At the end of the day, everyone survived… Both girls were fed, clothed and loved; what more can you ask for?

However, this day is not going down in my VIP mommy moments book and I am going to chalk this day up to my girls winning but its whatevs… I at least got a lot of great snuggles on the couch with my girls! I know those days are limited so I will take that portion of the day as a win!

  1. Yes, why do they always have to work when we need help? 😝 I can’t totally relate! Yes you can watch 9 hours of kittens on YouTube…
