#fulldisclosurefriday- That moment when your work schedule is a little different this week which meant you needed to juggle it all.
I typically do not have meetings on Wednesdays. That is my day with my youngest where we get to hang out because she does not have school. Well, this week I had an All Faculty meeting which meant that I had to multi-task while my little one was home too… EEP!
When this happens, I try to be as prepared as possible. Before logging on, I fully prepare the living room with snacks, water, toys and a favorite movie. YESSS, Cars 3 is now available to rent… Thank you, Vudu!
I’ve also been known to run away from my children when it is my turn to talk in a meeting. I am not even lying, lol! I mean, I have to come across as ‘professional’ and how legit does it sound when you have a toddler hanging off your leg?!? But, you gotta do what you gotta do!
Haha- This is real life as a WAHM!
I would not change it for the world!
There are some challenging days when I am trying to juggle everything. There are some late nights because I didn’t meet a deadline. There are some days where it is near impossible to get things done because I have a toddler stuck to my side (however, I use that as a prompt for myself… Be present woman!).
BUT….
I have done the 9-5 thing after my oldest was born for almost a year… I was miserable! The thing was, I worked at an AMAZING agency (I actually couldn’t say enough wonderful things about my old work place.. I LOVED it there) and had an AMAZING childcare provider. I was in a fantastic situation but I was not happy because I was not with my baby. My hubby constantly told me, “You’ve invested so much in yourself and your education, why do you not want to work?” Um…. Because I need balance, man!
So, anytime I start to feel overwhelmed with my current situation, I reflect on my time when I worked outside of the home and I IMMEDIATELY feel blessed. I will take a MILLION meetings where I am running from my child so my boss doesn’t hear a toddler in the background. You know why… Because I have a toddler in the background! I have so much flexibility and a fantastic work/family/life balance. #iamlucky
So, here is to all of you mama’s for making your current situation work for YOU! Whatever that means for your family dynamic :). YOU are the only person that can judge what the best lifestyle is for your family. If anyone is trying to say otherwise, well, that is their problem and not yours (because they are not living your life.. How do they know what your family needs?)!
Lastly, I hope it is making you genuinely happy! If not… Change it! I did and it was the best thing I did for my family.
